An extension to the existing gallery with funding provided by The Arts Council for England.
Three gallery spaces and an external cloistered sculpture court are specifically designed for exhibiting textiles, furniture, glass, ceramics and jewellery. Daylighting is carefully controlled allowing light and shade to define the texture and form of the craft exhibits. The building is designed as a low energy user with heating by solar energy, and back up boilers supplying under floor water pipes. Natural ventilation is provided to all the galleries by stack venting.
The building was completed on time and within a budget of £1.2 m.
